I am currently a PhD student in the Department of Ecological and Environmental Anthropology at the University of Georgia.

My background is in botany (M.S., University of Tennessee, 1994) and environmental education, and my long-time interests include biodiversity conservation, knowledge of "nature," and the ways that our knowledges and beliefs are formed and change over time.

I am currently working at UGA within the Center for Integrative Conservation Research, which brings together conservation researchers from many different fields to build a holistic understanding of conservation, biodiversity, and the highly political links between culture and ecology.
